Applications. Apps. Over 350,000 of them available. Everyone is wondering one question. Are apps what make the iOS platform so good. Well the answer is obviously yes. Apple are third in the US market. One reason this is because of apps. The applications on the iOS platform have been downloaded over 6 billion times”. Another reason why there are so many apps is because Apple pay their developers 70% of total sales. So how much have Apple actually paid to developers. According to the 1ST March keynote Apple have paid $2,000,000,000 (Thats 2 billion dollars to you and me) cumulatively to their developers. Some of the most downloaded Apps are below

  • Angry Birds Rio
  • Amazon
  • Twitter
  • Facebook
  • Tweetdeck
  • Moto X Mayhem

And many, many more

So why have they been downloaded so much.

Well you can use your same mobile me id to download apps. Also all apps are proven to be virus free. Apple Have to approve all the apps before they can debut in the app store. According to WWDC 2010 Apple approves 95% of apps within 1 week. But how about the Apps they don’t approve. Well they are three main reasons. First of all the app crashes. Secondly the developer uses private Api’s. Apple are very strict on which Api’s a developer can use and can’t use. And lastly the app doesn’t do as the description says. Also Apple charges £99 ($99) to become a developer so you have to be serious about developing. This is why the app store isn’t full of viruses and useless apps like other platforms.

So to sum up, there are many apps for the iOS Platform because Apple give out a good pay and are proven to be worth wile .
