The AR-4i gives you the ability to record videos and take images all hands free with the included hand grip, which can then be attached to a tripod to take self-portraits via the included cold shoe on the bottom. Using the AR-4i with your iPod Touch 4G is very nice as you get an adapter for the iPod Touch itself, which you first slide into the AR-4i and then place your iPod Touch on it, now you can go out an shoot some video or take some pictures on your iPodTouch as you like.

The main unit is powered by the two AAA batteries included and gives you 8/10 hours usage.

Portability with the AR-4i is no issue, as we get a nice large felt carrying case with two sections, one for the hand grip and the other for the two microphones and the main unit itself. The case is also easily shut , as we have a nice , strong pull string which insures that none of the contents accidentally fall our and damage. Once in the carry case , you can pop the AR-4i into your laptop carry case, purse or back pack , so you can always have it close by on the go.

Present on the sides or the AR-4i , we have the ports for some headphones, DC-in/Mini USB, Three audio inputs for the included microphones, Two cold shoes, volume wheel for the headphones, microphone volume wheel , adapter for external light and the Four LED lights for indicating the volume of the audio being recorded.

During my reviewing process, I tested out the audio and stabilization that the AR-4i brings and I was quite astonished and blown away with how good it performed.

What exactly did  do? I went out to the rear of my house , attached the AR-4i to my Tri-Pod and did a screw dropping test, it might sound random but its one way of finding out how good the audio is . I dropped the screw at various locations and to my complete amazement the two small  microphones picked up every-drop, so the Audio gets 10/10 from me.

Stabilization is another section, which I tested and I got some great results, I must say. Attaching the grip to the AR-4i is very simple, just twist it into the Tri-Pod port and its on succurly. Now, the stabilization within the video with the hand grip attached is exquisite , little or no shaking was noticed in my tests and I personally think, this product exceeds its asking price.

Overall , my experience with the Fostex AR-4i was mind blowing. Not only does this product offer great features for your iPhone 4/4s & iPodTouch 4G, but it also gives you better audio in videos and more stabilization, to get rid of those unwanted bourbon pictures.

Fostex have an application for customizing the AR-4i in the AppStore, get it HERE.

This product is going for £100 HERE and personally I think it exceeds the asking price, don’t you?
