Review – Proporta Flag Hard-Shell Case for iPodTouch 4G

Before I start this review, I would like to thank Proporta for sending this product out for review.

As the iPod Touch 5G is now out, many people will be purchasing it as an upgrade from the iPod Touch  2G/3G, but personally I think there is no need to upgrade from a iPod Touch 4G at this current moment in time. Many case companies will be dropping the price of iPod Touch 4G cases as a result of the iPod Touch 5G release and if you have an iPod Touch 4G,I would look around for a bargain.

In this article, we shall be taking a look at the Flag case from Proporta for the iPod Touch 4G available at a great price, listed below.

Worth the Purchase? : Yes

Where? : Proporta

Price: £14.95 (case + screen protector: £ 18.42)

Main Features

  • Custom-made for Apple iPod Touch 4G.
  • Full access to all ports and controls so no need to remove the case.
  • Fashionable Union Jack flag design.
  • Lifetime warranty.
  • Dimensions: 108 x 59 x 5mm.
  • Lifetime Exchange Warranty.

At first glance you will notice the case has a Union Jack design, which looks quite nice and is in various colours such as black, navy blue & light grey.

Present on the case we have all the necessary cut-outs for:

  • Camera + Microphone
  • Volume rockers
  • 3.5mm headphone jack , 30-pin dock connector + speaker
  • Power on/off button

In the hand, the case has a nice rubberised finish to it, which gives it a nice texture and grip, so you have less of a change of dropping the iPod Touch out of your hand.

Applying this case to the iPod Touch 4G is no issue because all you have to do is just clip it on, really easy. Once on, your iPod Touch will have great protection from scuffs and scratches, while having a great striking design. Sadly we have no lay-on-the-table design, so I would high recommend you purchase the screen protector with the case or purchase the Zagg, Bestskinsever or Bodyguards.

The Flag case is very thin at only 5mm thick, so the case will not add a lot, if any bulk to the iPod Touch, which I quite like because such cases, like the griffin survivor add to much bulk and makes the device uncomfortable to hold.

Moving onto Drop protection, well to be quite frank there is none. The case might add a nice design but if you drop your device on its screen or on the back, the case will not absorb any of the impact, so your device would be most likely cracked or in pieces.  If you’re out and about, I would keep your device zipped up in a pocket, so you have no chance of that happening to you.

Dropping your device onto a lino floor or carpet would be fine.

My final impressions on this case are very good, I personally love the design of the union jack , just sexy , I like the grippy , rubberised feeling in the hand and the price is just perfect . On the other hand I don’t like that the case offers no lay-on-the-table design or a lot of  drop protection but then again , you do come to expect that from a hard-shell plastic case.If your on the look-out for a budget case for your device, this is definitely worth a try .

(9/10 – Great product, worth a look and worth the price.)

  • Nice Union Jack Design
  • Easily applied to iPod Touch, just snap on.
  • Quality rubberised finish
  • Grippy feeling in the hand
  • Very Thin
  • Nice Packaging
  • Great protection from scuffs and scratches

  • Not a lot of drop protection available
  • No lay-on-the-table design (screen shield recommended)
